New York Capital Region Chapter

Mission Statement

The mission of the NAMES Project, NY Capital Region Chapter is consistent with the overall mission of the NAMES Project Foundation, keepers of the AIDS Memorial Quilt.

Our mission of the NAMES Project is to illustrate the enormity of the AIDS Epidemic by showing the humanity behind the statistics through the AIDS Memorial Quilt.

By using the AIDS Memorial Quilt as an artistic, and humanitarian response to the AIDS Epidemic, the NY Capital Region Chapter of the NAMES Project Places great emphasis on the following:

• Increase public awareness of the AIDS Epidemic in and around our community, emphasizing that the crisis is not over.
• Educating about HIV/AIDS prevention in the Capital Region of New York State and surrounding communities.
• Empowering survivors to remember their loved ones lost to AIDS by creating a meaningful remembrance through individual panels that comprises the AIDS Memorial Quilt.
• Collaborating with and supporting other area HIV/AIDS service providers in our community. To raise the funds necessary to carry out the operation of our Chapter.

These are the goals and overall mission of the NAMES Project, NY Capital Region Chapter.
